New RICS Home Standard launches on 1st March 2021

Overview

The long anticipated new RICS Home Survey Standard comes into effect on 1st March 2021.

The new RICS Home Survey Standard was published in November 2019. However, delays in implementation, exacerbated by Covid-19 and ongoing lockdowns, postponed its release until 1st March 2021 with a further transition period announced until 31st August 2021. Surveyors have until the end of the transition period to adopt the new guidelines, including adopting a new survey report based around levels (1-3) of service.
